Indian National Congress announced the first list of its Loksabha candidates on Friday. The first list included the names of Congress heavyweights like Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Shashi Tharoor, Bhupesh Bhagel, and others. The main opposition party Congress’s first list included names of 39 candidates.
While the high profile names like Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor will surely grab everyone’s attention, one name which has made heads turn from Karnataka is Geetha Shivaraj Kumar. Geeta Shivaraj Kumar is the wife of Kannada star Shivaraj Kumar. She will contest from Shimoga Loksabha segment from Congress party.
Geetha Shiva Raj Kumar has a been a popular name in Karnataka owing to her background. She is the daughter of Karnataka former Chief Minister Bangarappa and is married to hugely popular Kannada movie actor Shivaraj Kumar. Thus she has backing of two powerful families of Karnataka and seen as a powerful candidate. In the last Loksabha elections Geetha Shivaraj Kumar unsuccessfully contested from Shimoga Parliamentary constituency as Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular) candidate.
