Raksha Ramaiah All Set To Be Fielded From Chikballapur

Raksha Ramaiah all set to be fielded from Chikballapur

New Delhi, March 23: Promising young leader Raksha Ramaiah is all set to be fielded from the Chikballapur Loksabha segment.

According to the sources from AICC, the Congress High Command is believed to be in favor of fielding the young leader who is serving as national general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress from the Chikballapur parliamentary constituency, where there is intense competition for the Congress ticket. Besides the AICC leadership, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is said to have given a go-ahead for Raksha Ramaiah’s candidature.

Considering the decades-old Congress background, loyalty to the Gandhi family, and the groundwork done by Raksha Ramaiah in Chikkaballapur over the past few years, the Central Election Committee is said to be in favor of fielding the young Turk.

Chikballapur is one of the parliamentary constituencies where there is intense competition for a Congress ticket. Besides Raksha Ramaiah, Congress senior, former CM Veerappa Moily, and former Minister Shivashankar Reddy are also lobbying hard for a Chikballapur ticket. But it is said that AICC’s Central Election Committee has zeroed in on Raksha Ramaiah based on popular opinion and his chances of winning.

Before announcing the Chikballapura ticket, AICC leadership wants to bring all the contending leaders on one note to quell any further dissatisfaction. It is believed that Congress High Command may promise Rajyasabha candidature or MLC post for other contenders while announcing the Chikballapura ticket for Raksha Ramaiah.

“I have been closely associated with Chikballapur and in constant touch with both Congress cadres and people. We have taken up many protests against PM Modi’s Sarkar. We have also been working actively to spread Siddaramaiah Sarkar’s schemes to the people. I’m confident of getting the Chikballapur ticket and equally confident of winning it,” said Raksha Ramaiah, speaking to Yupbeat.com on Saturday.

Raksha Ramaiah stressed that he would work with all the party seniors to ensure the Congress’s victory in Chikballapur, hinting that he would get along with other ticket aspirants.

There are 28 Loksabha constituencies in Karnataka, and the Congress party has announced candidates for 24 seats. It is expected to announce candidates for the remaining segments, including Chikballapur, anytime.
