Sudha Murthy nominated for Rajyasabha

Eminent social worker and writer Sudha Murthy has been nominated for Rajyasabha. President Droupadi Murmu nominated her for the upper house of Parliament in recognition for her social work and contributions to literature and education.

Sudha Murthy is an engineer by education and played a key role in the setting up of software major Infosys. Sudha Murthy is married to Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and looks after the activities of Infosys Foundation. She has taken up extensive service and outreach activities through Infosys Foundation impacting millions of lives positively.

Besides social work, Sudha Murthy has also been active in literature and earned a special name for herself among book lovers. She has to her credit popular works like ‘How I taught my grandmother to read’, ‘Wise and Otherwise’, Mahashweta, ‘Gently Falls the Bakula’, Dollar Bahu and others. Recognizing her excellent work in social work and literature, Indian Government honored her with Padma Bhushan last year.
